Our Mission

The Grant Williams Family Foundation strives to close the inequity gap and hopes to remove obstacles for underserved students by providing invaluable resources and programs centered on our four core pillars - mentorship, financial literacy, technology, and the arts. We hope that, through our foundation, our students will have all resources and skills required to foster their own thriving communities and build intergenerational wealth for their families.

More information on our specific programming within our pillars is explained below.

Thank you for supporting our mission.

GWFF Core Pillars

  • Mentorship

Our comprehensive approach provides consistent support, educational opportunities, and financial assistance to underserved youth. We offer one-on-one guidance through our "big brother" program, addressing academics, careers, mental health, and athletics. Our Providence Day School Scholarship, in partnership with HoopTee Charities, opens doors to private school education for promising students based on academic merit and personal potential. We also facilitate weekly FaceTime calls with our mentees, offering tailored support and advice.

  • Financial Literacy

We recognize the importance of financial well-being for young athletes and their families. Our comprehensive program educates high school and college basketball players on budgeting, saving, investing, credit management, and financial planning. In partnership with Chase, we offer expert instruction, mentorship, and sponsorship opportunities to ensure these athletes are prepared for a successful future.

  • Technology

We equip the next generation of innovators with essential coding skills and problem-solving abilities. Our "Live to Learn" after-school program introduces elementary and middle school students to computer science fundamentals. Additionally, our Hackathon-for-Good challenges students to develop mobile app solutions for social needs, culminating in a pitch event and a unique opportunity to connect with a professional athlete.

  • Arts

We recognize the arts as an integral part of a holistic education, fostering the three Cs: confidence, collaboration, and creativity. Artistic expression empowers young people to explore their emotions, develop critical thinking skills, and build self-esteem which is why we offer our students with immersive experiences like field trips to cultural institutions and provisions of artistic tools. Our hope is that with these once-in-a-lifetime athletic and artistic experiences, students are inspired to creatively build whatever ideas they have in their head, even through seemingly unconventional pairings.
